Winsor and Newton's Griffin Fast Drying Oil Colour offers the advantage of faster drying times in comparison to traditional oil colours. The colours remain workable on the palette for 4 to 8 hours. Depending on factors such as thickness of paint & environmental conditions, these alkyd paints should be touch dry in 18 to 24 hours. You will still need to wait roughly 3 months/until the paint is completely dry before varnishing.
Griffin Alkyd can be mixed with traditional oil colour paint & used underneath them. These artist's paints are popular for making a quick underpainting followed by an artist's oil colour paint or student oil colour paint such as Winsor and Newton's Winton Oil Colour range or the Pebeo Studio XL Oil Colour Paint.
As the film is less flexible and dries faster than a traditional oil colour, you should not use the Griffin Alkyd Oil Colour paints on top of traditional oil paints or the Winsor and Newton Artist's Oil bar.
The alkyd resin dries to hard film which makes the Winsor and Newton Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Oil Paints ideal for craft projects and outdoors projects. Once dry the paint is waterproof & weather proof & can withstand physical wear. Use them on wood, glass, porcelain, metal & of course the conventional primed canvas and oil painting boards and papers.
